Hike to Pulpit Rock for expansive views of Lysefjord from atop this 10,000-year-old natural rock formation. The relatively mild 4 km (2.5 mi) climb can last one to three hours depending on your fitness and hiking experience, and will take you 604 m (1,981 ft) above sea level. Bring your camera to capture some of the great views. Be sure to check the weather forecast in advance, as rain or fog could obscure the sea. Keep in mind that it is not recommended to hike this trail when there is still snow on the ground. • Easy and straight forward trekking rout to the Rock. I recommend to do it off season to avoid crowd on the top

  • This is a tough hike if you have weak ankles or knees - the "trail" is all rocks and takes some concentration. But, that being said, we are glad we did it. Well marked and gorgeous views all...

  • This is a spectacular hike once you reach the top. The hike up is about 50 minutes, and is a moderate challenge.

  • Not a hike for beginners, as it's quite steep and slippery in sections, but a beautiful landscape. If the rock is in clouds, be sure to go higher, as it is more exposed and may be out of the clouds.
  • The new beginner hikers can climb here because the difficulty is not too much and they can walk comfortably. There are a lot of people in the middle of the period, having to walk in a line, making it uncomfortable and hot. But at some point, we can walk and push other people forward. I met a lot of old people and small children walking here. But I don't recommend it for people wearing normal shoes as it can cause you to fall due to slippery because I saw some people dressed as if they weren't prepared for climbing and I ended up slipping and having an accident.
  • Wonderful rock formation. We were lucky with the weather and even though initially it was very cloudy it became sunny afterwards and we were able to enjoy the stunning views of the cliffs. The hike to the top is 4km and I would advise to bring hiking shoes for it since it can get slippery. Definitely a recommend for me! One last thing to note is that the parking there is VERY expensive at 250NOK. It was literally the only pain point of the experience.
  • Moderate difficulty hike. Can get quite crowded, but well worth it for the views. Try hiking up past the main overhang to look down on the fjord and pulpit rock!
  • The views were totally worth it. Breathtakingly good. It was so surreal and quiet up there. Good to go during the off peak hours or off peak season where there are less visitors. The journey there is definitely not for beginners, the steep rock stairs and area where there are streams running through makes it slippery as well. For those who don't hike so much, it's better to set aside 6 hours to and fro, rather than the advertised 4 hours. Weather there changes fast as well, while hiking got caught in a sudden heavy downpours so do pack waterproofs. All that being said, it is still worth the hike and the views are amazing.
