  • A great big wooden church! The carving inside are pretty good. Competent young lady gave a good talk about the buildings history. Worth the visit in and outside. All cafe nearby with nice cakes!

  • Beautiful piece of architectural marvel which has stood the test of time. More than 800 year old. When visiting please be respecful as this is a place of worship and there people who are buried here so respect the privacy of family members of the departed. The landscape of the area is also breathtaking. From Oslo, we drove about 3 hours to reach here.
  • Such a pretty church. Really great to see. The opening hours are pretty tight though and we just missed it (hence the 4-stars). Still a great experience! Definitely make a detour to stop there if you can.
  • A stunning church with beautiful surroundings. We did not visit the inside but we thoroughly enjoyed this place full of history. I would definitely recommend it for a quick stop or even a longer one.
  • The church is quite impressive. Everything is made out of wood, which gives it these old wood smell. This place is not super crowded and every our is a free tour. In the Cafe where you get the ticket for the church, is a small exhibition too. Sadly its all written in Norwegian language, what I don't get. A small english subtitle would foreigners a lot.
  • Beautiful stave church, amazingly well kept. There is also a museum and a coffee shop next to it, with nice sitting arrangement and pleasant food. There also some viking entertainment sometimes, including sword fights etc. A must stop on your way to or from Oslo (just and hour away from the capital).
