The Ibsen Museum, Oslo

Of Course, Ibsen is always great and every one can agree with that. - But in this new Ibsen Museum with a suitable large salon, the actors gets in near contact with the audience and creates an enchanting atmosphere. So What can be more right than to go and see the "Sancthansnatten" ? The monologues are like songs with witchcraft and the acting take you back with almost 200 years. The change of scenography is dynamic and made to look so easy, but behind it there is such a experience that leaves a question - how did they come up with that? And not to forget the costumes that are contemporary with the play's release in mid 19th century and You could say that they are Historical Accurate, with hand painted silks and fabric patterns. These costumes are colourful and made with such a know-how that the integration of total concept makes You to want to see the play all once again, because there is more to discover.

Go on the guided tour which includes a knowledgable docent who goes in depth in to all the rooms of the house and explains the original furniture and items within the house. I was luck and got a private tour for myself since the museum is sometimes lightly visited at times which makes it great as it's nice and quiet way to spend some time learning about Ibsen's life.

A small but complete overview of Ibsen's life, particularly his final years, when he lived in a generously-sized apartment at this location. If you're not familiar with his work, you can learn a lot here. It would be better to get at least an overview before going. That would contribute to your engagement. The museum seems newish and growing. They're trying to restore his apartment to its appearance during his time there. The tour--the only way to get in to the apartment--will definitely give you insight into the man. (Free with Oslo Pass)

This is a quirky little museum perhaps just for aficionados. But you also get a guided tour of his last apartment which is excellent. Our guide was superb. Nice little shop. Couldn't resist a t shirt which says "HI" which are obviously his initials. There are also fabulous babygros. Don't miss it.
