Norwegian Petroleum Museum, Stavanger

Really enjoyed this venue. Showed the history of oil and gas industry and delved into future of carbon capture and wind technologies which derive oil and gas technology. Some fun slide for kids to keep them interested. Nice cafe on site. Highly recommend a visit. Allow at least two hours.

Fantastic museum I'm usually not a very enthusiastic museum-goer but this museum absolutely won me over. It provides a lot of information in a very visual and playful way. I loved the reflecting and self-critical aspect. The oil industry is not glorified here but rather rationally explained and climate aspects get highlighted very well. Would totally recommend also for children.

This is a good museum for both children and adults. The models are fantastic. And there's a hologram room that we spent a half hour in easy but could have spent longer. It was just so cool. The day we attended, there was a theater show and it missed the mark on educational value (the message was mixed too, whether oil had been good or bad for Norway). There is also a large dinosaur portion but none of the dinosaurs on display have anything to do will oil or Norway so it's a little confusing. I understand it as an attraction for kids, but there must be other ways to engage children on oil than just dinosaurs. Oh well, they were cool to look at but I think they detracted from the rest of the museum.

This is a great museum filled with interesting exhibits and information about the oil industry in Norway. We have visited it 4 times and enjoyed it on all occasions. Our most recent visit was especially enjoyable due to the additional dinosaur exhibition. My boys and I loved it.

Great for both children and adults. There is lot of things to see and learn. From the beginnings of mining to the present. Lot of text to read about, and lot of videos. And they got also dinosaurs here. But in gift shop they could sell some souvenirs with oil theme.
