  • Not too far from Taxila museum is the Dharmarajika Stupa an ancient remains protected under The World Heritage Act. According to the local guides, this Stupa was even older than the Julian Monastery! At age apparently 2,000 plus! There were some ancient remained of the Buddha' foot statues. Many of the statues are lock away in the cage for protection but very easily visible. During the hot that, this place is very uncomfortable to walk around, ensure to bring something to protect against the sun. Especially towards the exist, there are some hustler bagging for money, hence, be prepared
  • Such a wonderful experience we had exploring these old ruins. Well maintained and preserved. Ticket cost for a local is 20Rs. And for a foreigner it's 500Rs. And this 500 includes 3 sites, one is Dharmarajika Stupa, second is Sirkap remains and the third one is Mohra Morado. The whole area is clean and surrounded by green mountains. There are a lot of Oranges in the area. The place is so peaceful and beautiful. Highly recommended if you go to Taxila.
  • This is the biggest Stupa and Monastery Complex located in Taxila and a must visit place. Entrance is now gated by some private property. At the top, you will find a lot of details including the big Stupa, the vast monastery, pond, temples and lots of Other relics. This should be the first Stupa to visit on your Taxila heritage sites visit. Buy the tickets which will suffice for Sirkap city and Mohra Moradu as well.
  • Taxila is part of the Gandhara Civilization and a region that contains numerous examples of Hindu, Buddhist and Greek cultures. From 5th Century BC to 2nd century AD, Taxila was an important Buddhist learning center. In 327 B.C. Alexander conquered Taxila. Later it came under King Ashoka rule, and in the fifth century the Huns laid waste to this beautiful city. Taxila sites are listed under UNESCO. Unfortunately our land mafia has layed waste to the surrounding with unplanned housing colonies coming up. The front of this Stupa some connected politician has made his farmhouse.
  • Walking distance from the museum you can see an actual archeological site reflecting the depth of this heritage Guides are available who are happy to talk about the place Great experience the stupa contains the relics of the Buddha build by Indian king Ashoka, Taxila is considered one of the eight largest stupa's in south asia, Monasteries and the classrooms are of particulate interest one class room for each teacher and child, build around in a circle with one central class room, gives you an idea how in ancient times and in Buddhism education was considered scared duty.
