Behind a cathedral and near the old fort sits Plaza Cuartel, dedicated to the memory of the American soldiers who were burned alive by the Japanese in World War II. Near the end of the war, Japanese forces imprisoned 143 American soldiers and forced them to enter the narrow tunnel, which they doused with gasoline and set on fire. See the memorial plates and pictures of the 11 survivors. The memorial stone in the center of the square--topped by a figurine of a man in chains--bears the names of all the solders from the garrison. An important landmark in Palawan where the Palawan massacre of 1944 took place. A tranquil park at present, you can see the other side of the Puerto Princesa sea from here. Plaza Cuartel is a place to pay respects to the victims of that tragic event that is forever etched in history. There is a memorial designed by one of the only few survivors.

Located beside the cathedral, entrance is free. This place is where Palawan Massacre happened, memorial is found inside with the names of the victims and survivors.

There's nothing really much to see there. I think they could develop this place more. Plant more flowers and maybe highlight the stone monument. It did have a good "Puerto Princesa" sign tho for picture taking.

The view is breathtaking but i think the LGU must add more maintenance personnel to maintain its beauty.
