Create an itinerary including Archikatedra Oliwska
Full to bursting with valuable artwork, Archikatedra Oliwska serves as the final resting place of many of the region's prominent families. The great organ was designed in the 18th century by a Cistercian monk and features dramatic carved wood against the white vaulting above the congregation's heads. The angels balanced on top of the organ are movable. Other notable artworks adorn the walls and are worth a closer look as well. • It was a great idea of mine to return here after 40 years. It is a once in a lifetime experience and would recommend to all. Visit at 12:00 or on Sunday at 15:00 to listen to the concert.

  • We visited here with a tour group. The church is amazing, but the best part is the music. Be sure and make that part of your visit!

  • Well-maintained cathedral located in one of the most beautiful parts of Gdańsk. Inside you’ll find an extensive collection of art and discretely placed plaques documenting the history of the church and the local area.
  • We walked in to look at the beautiful expositions and ended up staying for the breathtakingly beautiful organ concert! This was a wonderful experience I will never forget.
  • Amazing interior space but go when you can enjoy the organ. Mr. Martin, organist, gave us a composite selection of about 6 excerpts including R Jones' Intrada (personal favourite). The angels were smiling! Highly recommended.
  • Oliwa Cathedral was erected as a Cistercian church in the thirteenth century as a Gothic, three-nave basilica. It was built on the plan of a Latin cross, measuring 107 metres and is the longest church in Poland. Its beautiful interior conceals many art treasures: numerous altars, a Rococo pulpit, great stalls or Renaissance portraits of numerous benefactors of the Cistercian monastery. In the central part of the monumental presbytery you can find the main Baroque altar. Its “earthly sphere” consists of black columns arranged in a semicircle and “heavenly sphere” is a vision of heaven: stucco clouds and angel  heads.
  • The most beautiful Katedra I've ever seen. This place full of peace, kindness, pacification and blessing. Everyone who visiting Gdansk must see it!
