Celebrating the bravery of the Polish solidarity movement, Europejskie Centrum SolidarnoSci includes exhibition halls, a theater, and impressive architecture. Reopened in 2014, the attraction's building is as much a reason to visit as the engaging exhibits. Designed to resemble a ship's hull, the structure pays tribute to its location in the shipyards. Inside the "ship's hull," historical exhibits tell the story of Poland's fight against Russia through videos, audio recordings, and documents accompanied by visuals and interactive displays. Visit the attraction's website for a calendar of upcoming events and to purchase tickets in advance. • If you only have time to visit one museum in Gdańsk, CHOOSE THIS ONE! We absolutely LOVED this museum, it truly blew us away. The audio tour was outstanding, so easy to follow, so informative and well laid out. My husband knew very little about the solidarity movement and walked out so amazed. The interactivity of the museum is excellent and again, so easy to follow. You are completely immersed in the time period and transported to each moment through both audio and visual prompts. More museums should use this as a model. Highly, highly recommend.
  • I really liked this museum. Learned a lot about Polish history and the Solidarity Union. The audio guide was great. Spent much more time here than expected. One tip: the audio guide also has an interesting part if you take it with you on the roof terrace.
  • I really enjoyed this museum. Tickets very cheap and definitely the best audioguide experience I have had in a museum anywhere, it just worked so well. A really interesting insight into trade unionism and workers rights in Poland, powerful and inspiring
  • Excellent museum, I recommend the audio tour where most of the information is best captured and summarized. In the end I felt closer to my fellow European brothers, the Poles. It is a multimedia deep dive into post World War II Poland and the Solidarity movement, with hints towards the rest of the Eastern Bloc countries and the rest of the world. Starting in the shipyard of Gdansk, right where the museum is placed, an overview of the first strike of Solidarity is captivating and detailed. All aspects of Polish society and their yearning for freedom are highlighted, during periods of strikes, a military junta and brotherhood found through faith via "their" Pope, John Paul II. The significance of figures, like Lech Walesa in particular, who struggle for a brighter future, we can only support and have hope for a united Europe and world. Creating a path towards freedom and solidarity for all.
  • I got into the museum almost by accident and I found myself loving it. The audio guide did a good job in telling the story of Gdansk and Poland's liberation from communism. The tour lasted about 3 hours but the time flew by.
