Christ the King Statue
Christ the King is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Świebodzin, western Poland, completed on 6 November 2010. The figure is 33m tall, the crown is 3m tall, and along with its mound, it reaches 52.5m overall. It took five years in total to construct and cost around $1.5 million to build, which was collected from donations of the 21,000 residents of the town. The project was conceived and led by Sylwester Zawadzki, a retired Polish priest. It is the tallest statue of Jesus in the world.CharacteristicsThe statue was built on a 16.5m embankment of stones and rubble. Christ the King has a height of 33m, symbolising a traditional belief that Jesus' age at his death was 33. The Crown of the temple is 3.5m in diameter and 2m in height, and the whole is gilded. It weighs 440 tons. The head alone is 4.5m tall and weighs 15 tons. Each hand is 6m in length and the distance between the ends of the fingers is 24m. It is composed of concrete and fibreglass. It is 3m taller than the better known statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, standing at 30.1m tall without its pedestal.DesignThe designs for various elements of the statue were produced by a number of individuals; the sculpture design was primarily produced by Mirosław Kazimierz Patecki with the technical design aspect being undertaken by Assoc. Jakub Marcinowski and Assoc. Mikołaj Kłapeć, both of whom are employees of the University of Zielona Gora. Meanwhile, elements of the clothing and the arms of the statue were designed by Tomasz Stafiniak and Krzysztof Nawojski (the latter being of the town of Świebodzin) respectively. Another resident of Świebodzin, Marian Wybraniec, was responsible for the design of the foundations upon which the statue was constructed. Quite an impressive statue. Driving on the S3 we saw this statue from afar. We decided to stop and check it out. Parking is free. There is a restaurant with toilets and there was an ice cream vendor near the statue. Good to spend 30 minutes or so while driving down the s3. An interesting break.

Not majestic at all. It's rather a menekin than a sculpture. It looks cheap and its decaying. Plus that it is still cool place to visit and it looks great from distance. But well, better use stone next time

Very interesting impressive place.

I don't believe in making statues or images of the Lord God. It is rank disobedience to the first commandment. Leaving this point aside, it is an imposing statue and a nice place for a walk with pleasant views.
