  • This place was really amazing!! We were, most unfortunately, not there when the waves were big, but I would come back again to see them. The whole stretch of town along the cliff was breathtaking! There was a great little shop right near the top of the funicular where a fella was hand crafting traditional fishing boats. They were beautiful!! The information on how the giant waves form and the surfers that ride them was very interesting! The beach to the north of the lighthouse was very cool. You could see the striations in the sand of where different heights of waves wash up to. Very, very cool!! Well worth going out of your way to see!
  • Beautiful breathtaking landscape. Plenty to see and do. Lots of little shops. Super family friendly. Watch the 40’-50’ waves crash to your right and the beautiful waves ahead right from the beach, the walking paths, waterfront restaurants and cafés. Take the funicular to the top to see the Nazaré Canyon and surf exhibitions! Absolutely stunning!
  • You will find more than you expected. A cathedral of surfing equipped with the original surfboards of most legends hitting the big waves. Also merch and some detailed info about why the waves turn out so big here. Bring some time to also enjoy north beach with it's caves below the lighthouse.
  • Before visiting google 'Nazare wave forecast' to see when the waves will be the biggest (peak season is during the winter months). Once you arrive you will need to park at the top of the hill and then walk down to the lighthouse. From there you will see spectacular views of both beaches. It's amazing to see the difference in wave heights. Admission into the lighthouse is 2 euros and well worth it.
  • The lighthouse of Nazaré offers an eye-watering view that takes your breath away. An elevated standing that allows you to embrace the horizon of the sea. Even though the place is small, the view it provides is nothing less of a beauty of nature.
