St. Margaret Church
St. Margaret's Church (Biserica Sfânta Margareta; Margarethenkirche) is a Lutheran church, located at 1 Piața Castelului in the historic town center of Mediaș (Mediasch), Sibiu County, in the Transylvania region of Romania. The present, late Gothic structure was built between 1437 and 1488 by the ethnic German Transylvanian Saxon community at a time when the area belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary. Consecrated as a Roman Catholic church, with St Margaret of Antioch as its patron saint, it became Lutheran following the Reformation.St. Margaret's church is located at the center of a large church fortress. About 150 of these buildings still exist in Transylvania. Seven of these villages with fortified churches are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is listed as a historic monument by Romania's Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs. Quickly create a custom-made itinerary for Medias using our trip planner.

Really beautiful church, it's open until 6pm if I'm not wrong and it's a really good place to take photos or even go for a walk.

It's a beautiful place to visit, take a walk or even chill out a little. The church is beautiful in the inside just like on the outside. It's not a really busy place, also it depends on the time.

One of the many fortified churches in southern Transylvania, the biggest of them, preserved well after hundred of years.

Beautiful Church that can be seen from far away. Definitely the main point of attraction in Medias. It is one of the eldest churches like this in Romania and full of history. The location shows a bit off on Google maps, because it is not actually there. It should be where the small plazza shows. Hope this will be changed soon on maps.

Nice place to visit, beautiful old catholic paintings.

St Margaret evangelical church, built in Gothic style in 1276, is mostly known for its leaned tower. For now the museum it houses reveals some cool architecture themes of its time.
-
The twins volunteering at the Church provided us with a large pack of valuable information regarding the evangelical site and about the city of Mediaș. The Church is the highlight of the region and has a lot of history to share with the visitors. It's a must!

A beautiful church, a true landmark - really well preserved.
