Cabana Babele, Sinaia

The cabin is closed for years and it looks like is going to collapse soon. Shame! Once you get to the top you realise there is no place to buy some water / food or to go to toilet. Absolutely no services for tourists. It amazes me how incompetent some leaders can be to let such a wonderful place go to waste.

Not fancy, but great for a short rest after hiking.

The cabana was fully booked and instead of trying to help us they just told us to go somewhere else (this was after hiking up the mountain all day with 15 kg backpacks). You're also not allowed to camp outside. We had some lunch there but it wasn't very good and tasted a lot like vinegar. Hot chocolate was made with water.

It's a very nice place to crash in after a long tour of the Bucegi mountains (one of the very few places that serve food and drinks around). The rooms are clean but very basic, we booked one for 2 persons with our own bathroom. Don't expect much. They don't heat the rooms during summer, so there are nights when you might feel cold.

This is a place I have been traditionally avoiding in the past 30 years.. nothing to do with a mountain shelter and with a clientele to match , thanks to the cable car and road access
