At Manastirea Sinaia, see two gold-plated thrones bearing the royal emblem, carved wooden furniture, and frescoes from the 17th and 19th centuries. Mihail Cantacuzino, a Wallachian military leader, built the monastery upon his return from Mount Sinai in the last decade of the 17th century. The 19th-century church with the bell tower houses paintings depicting Queen Elisabeth with her daughter Mary. Notice the friezes adorning the walls of the old church and the painting of the founder with his 18 children on the back wall. A small history museum exhibits the first Romanian translation of Bible written in the Cyrillic alphabet. The 1920s prime minister Take Ionescu is buried here, and the stone interior walls of the mausoleum are carved with quotations from his speeches. Very peaceful, small monastery. Pity that photographs were not allowed inside, as the decorations were amazing.

The monastery has a powerful spiritual energy. If you are a Christian it's a bit touching. Anyway I would recommend to go to see it even if you don't believe. The monastery has an excellent architectonic value. Keep in mind that the first photo is from the original monastery goes as back as 300 years! There are some activities to do. For example light 🕯️ a candle, pry 🙏, wash you face and drink holly water 💦.

There are actually 2 monasteries here, a really old one (tiny, but cool…) & a bigger one built hundreds of years later. The museum was unfortunately closed when I came (Covid? Winter? Not sure…but maybe check ahead…), but the setting (gorgeous snow-covered mountains) & the monasteries themselves are certainly worth the visit. Apparently built as a sort of “tribute” to the holy men who helped hide one of Transylvania’s exiled leaders while he was on the run. When he regained power, he funded the construction as a “thank you”. Built on the site where one of the priests/ monks apparently had a holy vision. Interesting & historic spot!

In this place the God is more closer than u think. I ntimacy with God can happen right now if you want it. A closeness you can feel, a goodness you can taste, a reality you can experience for yourself.

The Sinaia Monastery would be beautiful if only they did not turn its inner courtyard into a parking lot. Instead it's horrible.

There is no point arguing. This is hands down a 5* place to visit. Or should i say, places, as you get to see two magnificent churches on the same lovely ground. And it is free to visit while the ground is maintained to a high standard.. no point arguing indeed.. 5*
