Salina Turda
Board a panoramic wheel and observe the 1,000-year-old stalagmites, or row across a small underground lake at Salina Turda. Romans began unearthing this huge underground mine in the 2nd century. It was closed in 1932 and reopened for tourists in 1992. Old mining machines take visitors through its massive halls, and the textured salt caves also house spa equipment for halotherapy. The pressure and dampness of the caves help in the treatment of asthma and allergies. The mine also features a family entertainment area with ping pong tables and bowling lanes, an echo chamber, a crystal hall, and a 50 m (164 ft) wide and 80 m (262 ft) long hall. It's a majestic place that made me realize, once again, how small we humans are in face of nature. I loved it!

Wow! This was an amazing experience. This place is just fabulous. There's otherworldly views, it's very interesting everywhere. You can read the story of this magnificent place in the wall signs. I recommend you taking the stairs.. And breathing. This is for sure one of the coolest places I have been. It's one must do when visiting the beautiful Romania. I think this is something that you don't usually see anywhere. It's incredible how they digged this hundred of years ago. Really deep. I didn't take the boat, but it might be something nice to do too.

Still thinking about visiting this place? Well, it’s 100% worth it.🤩 I didn’t really know what to expect but I was blown away by the magnitude of the salt chambers labyrinth and all the equipment that I saw. 👍🏻 ☑️ It feels like time travelling to a different land ☑️ Besides admiring the magnificent scenery you can participate in different types activities such as: 🚣♀️ boat ride about 20 min (max 3 people/boat for 30 lei/ boat ) 🎱Pool, etc. ☑️You can buy the tickets online🎟 or at the register with cash or 💳 ☑️Souvenirs 🎁 👎🏻 ✖️Extremely crowded during national holidays or during the weekend ✖️You can’t pay the parking by 💳, only cash (1 leu, 5 lei, 10 lei bills) ✖️No eating or drinking inside ( pack a bottle of water 💧 )

Wow, it's amazing to think they ate all that salt to build a boating lake and a ferris wheel in an abyss. Amazing place with incredible scale. Ignore the little voice you can't fly. Beautifully air conditioned so dress warm if you get cold easily. It's a constant temperature wasn't any warmer in summer! Worth a visit and you could spend half a day there if you use, read. all the features. Interesting, historical place being put to good use. Leave the push chair in the car as it isn't designed for them. Use the stairs it's good exercise and there are lots unless you want to get old waiting for the lazy lift. A multi lingual sign requesting fit healthy people to use stairs would encourage them to leave the lifts for the less able. Just a thought.

Terrific!!!!! I wish we come earlier and spent more time here! Stunning salt mine with a river you can have a boat ride, or fair wheel, mini golf, ping pong, souveriers and separate rooms you can take photos and enjoy learning about this mine. You have to pay extra for specific activity you choose, but event walk around and breath salts and take pictures here is just an amazing as it could ever be in mines! Must visit while in Romania 🇷🇴

At the venue, there are enough parking spaces available if you arrive by car. We waited in line for a long time to buy the tickets at the reception. I would recommend buying your ticket online to skip the line as suggested by a billboard on site. The huge salt mine is very impressive and the history surrounding it's origin is displayed in three languages. I strongly recommend the boat ride on the eery salt lake 120m below ground at the lowest point of the mine. My only criticism is that it was very crowded and even felt claustrophobic at times since they do not seem to have a maximum of allowed visitors at a time so you were basically stuck inside a mountain with thousands of other people. Due to so many tourists, it became pretty loud - the whole venue is basically an echo chamber - and the waiting time for each attraction and the elevators was very long. The alternative, narrow staircases, are only easily accessible for physically fit people. And even for the one-way stairs, we had to wait in line about 15 min. until we were let through. Overall it is definitely worth to see but maybe try it on a weekday instead of Sat/Sun as we did.
