Create an itinerary including Kazan Kremlin
Constructed over the ruins of a former Tatar fortress, the walls of Kazan Kremlin enclose a vast space filled with parks, museums, and religious buildings, collectively designated as a World Heritage Site. The complex notably includes a 16th-century cathedral, one of few Russian churches featuring six piers and five apses. Other highlights include a 19th-century palace, now serving as the official residence of the president of Tatarstan, and a lavishly decorated mosque famous for its observation balcony and lotus-shaped dome. Be sure to visit the mosque's ground-floor museum, established to provide a glimpse into the region's Islamic history and culture. • They say all Kremlin's are all the same all over Russia but this is no exception, perhaps wit the little Tatar twist. Otherwise there are very nice restored buidings, churches, restaurants and museums, even a cosy cafe selling hand made cakes.
  • Amazing place. The main attraction of Kazan, this place is a must visit. The place is very well preserved. The place looks beautiful during the day, and even more during the night, best time to visit would be somewhere between 4-5pm during summers. Beautiful place, highly recommend!
  • Tatarstan is always worth a trip. Kazan, the capital of the Republic Tatarstan is full of history and great culture. It even has it’s own Kreml, which is a UNESCO world heritage. A must to see. Within the Kreml walls there is beside the president palace many museums, an Orthodox Cathedral, a Christian Church and the big Mosque. A splendid view over the city you get from the observation decks. Walk through the pedestrian zone of the old city, enjoy a coffee with local sweets in one of the many cafés, either on the terrace in summer or inside. There are also may restaurants with all kind of cuisine. Explore the rich cuisine of Tatarstan. Don’t miss to visit the Petropavlovsky Sabor (St Peter and Paul Cathedral). Just recently completed a complete renovation and shines in new splendor. From the main entrance you have the most beautiful sunset over the roofs of Kazan. At the end of the pedestrian zone you see another landmark, the Epiphany Cathedral’s Bell Tower. In the evening enjoy one of the many theatres or concerts in Kazan. You like to stay in a historical building, the DoubleTree by Hilton Kazan City Center is just the perfect place. 2 minutes walk from the pedestrian street and less than 10 minutes to the Kazan Kreml.
  • Open 24/7, gorgeous at day, even more so at night. My girlfriend and I have been there for three times already, but it is still not enough for us. I would recommend everyone to go there. The mosque is a must-visit. It has also been great to visit one of the towers. The view is simply amazing there.
  • Amazing history here. Beautiful buildings tell a great story of multiple cultures.
