Situated just a short drive southeast of Moscow's city center, Kolomenskoye Historical and Architectural Museum and Reserve combines history and nature. Formerly a rural estate developed as a summer retreat for the wealthy grand princes of Muscovy, this open-air museum contains both authentic and reconstructed historical buildings. The complex notably includes a 16th-century church built to commemorate the birth of Ivan the Terrible. Constructed of white stone, the church significantly departed from Byzantine building tradition by incorporating an octagonal body and a tiny dome. Other notable structures within the complex include a log cabin built for Peter the Great and a reconstruction of a wooden palace famed for its fairytale roofs. • Gorgeous park with wooden churches taken from several regions of Russia, an UNESCO world heritage church and museum, and a reconstruction of a wooden palace. Really worth visiting, and you can spend the whole day there since most attractions are in opposite sides of the park.
  • A breathtaking place with amazing views. The Czar's palace is pretty good but there's a lot more to see. There's a small ski slope which can be used during the winter. A walk deeper into the park will let one see the Moskva river in all its icy beauty. No better place to go for a run or just relax during the summers. Massive area which can be a huge stress buster for people living in the city.
  • This is one of the most underrated and magnificently large parks in Moscow, especially for spring and summer. It offers a more nature oriented time while keeping itself public and accessible compared to other titans like Gorky and I must say that Kolomenskoye Park is far more enjoyable. It has it all, colourful trees for models and photographers, stone paths for a more olden feel, small hills with steep paths for those who want a casual hike, a myriad of wide open spaces perfect for picnics with loved ones or friends, Riverside cycling and picnics, and flowers and orchards galore. This park is absolutely beautiful and offers a view like no other in Moscow. If you want to walk with the trees and flowers or enjoy a riverside breeze, this is it.
  • Kolomenskoe is a great outing place. In the summer it is double must see place. It has lots of historic building, plenty of fine views, greenery. It also hosts various festivals, historic and cultural. Very spacious, walking can become tiring even though it is far from being boring. Some buildings are related to Peter the Great, others to earlier Romanov family and other rulers. Excellent recreations for children, zipline and climbing grounds. Very quiet, area is so big that urban sound cannot reach it.
  • Another beautiful Moscow's park. Situated at south of Moscow this park can be reached by the metro line 2 (green). At the centre of its territory there are nice buildings but the attraction are all the green lawns, the beautiful trees and the flowers. Probably best period to visit the park is May when the everything is green and the flowers are of astonishing colours.
