Pay your respects to some of Bratislava's liberators at Slavin War Memorial, a memorial monument and burial ground dedicated to the Soviet Army soldiers killed during the liberation of Slovakia's capital in World War II. Opened in 1960, the cemetery has six mass graves and 278 individual graves. The Stalinist-style memorial dominates the surrounding park with its 39.5 m (130 ft) obelisk topped by an 11 m (36 ft) sculpture of a Soviet soldier waving a flag. The central hall with various statues houses a symbolic sarcophagus made of white marble. Read the dates of the liberation of different places in Slovakia from the inscriptions on the outside walls. Very interesting to see and included information plates in different languages. We got some great pictures with the city in the background! Definitely worth the hike from the hlavna train station.

Would definitely recommend adding this to your Bratislava list. It’s about a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk from the castle. Was not too busy or crowded. Open park area to walk through to get to the statue. Then there is a nice elevated view of the city.

Beautiful memorial for World War II soldiers. Views over the city is amazing, especially during the night, there two entrances one way through the stairs in the front and one from the left side where you can also park the car. The entrance is free. There is a way to access the top of the monument but is not always accessable.
-
One of the most grandiose monuments right in Bratislava. Makes for a beautiful day trip with your girlfriend or boyfriend (loads of students there), but also a fun place for the kids to explore.
-
A war memorial that should be visited both for its historical values and for its views of the city and the castle. You can take a bus to Pod Stanicou and then climb quite a few stairs and you will be greeted by the monument and the incredible views. From the monument you can have a nice, pleasant walk through a very unique neighborhood towards the castle.
-
A war memorial with great views over Bratislava. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Bratislava. Not far from the castle which has great views over the river Danube.
