See the former coronation church of Hungarian kings at St. Martin's Cathedral (Dom svateho Martina), whose tall spire dominates the Old Town. Once a part of the city's fortification walls, the 85 m (279 ft) high tower is topped by the Hungarian crown set on a gilded cushion. The inside of the church features Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque decor, as well as 19th-century Viennese stained-glass windows. A prominent feature of the interior is an equestrian statue of St. Martin dressed like a hussar. The cathedral houses the relics of an early 7th-century saint, John the Merciful. • The catedral is very small, located in downtown Bratislava. It is opened in the mornings and afternoons and is free of charge. The dome is very nice and also the altarpiece.

  • Beautiful church, simple from the outside but super rich inside, really worth visiting when in Bratislava. Also, such a nice experience to follow the coronation path from St Michael’s Gate to the cathedral, and then walk up to the castle.
  • Amazing church in center of Bratislava. Visit doesn't allowed during misa. It is amazing place. Recommend to visit.
  • A beautiful cathedral in the heart of the beautiful city Bratislava. I attach the open hours to know you when to visit it. Recommended!
  • Absolutely stunning Cathedral. The interior is ornate and grand. Free entry. They hold regular masses throughout the day. There is a policy that women must cover up which admittedly I was embarrassed about when asked to cover my shoulders - I had to pay for a shall for 0.50€ which is simply a mark of respect and completely understandable.
