Its appearance dates back to the Counts of Celje, the most renowned and notable noble dynasty from the area in present-day Slovenia. During the summer, a live history program takes place there and offers an immersive experience as the visitors can take part in sword fights with knights, shoot with bows, and flirt with princesses. On the last Saturday in August, the the castle becomes a venue for a traditional medieval festival.

On my second time to visit Celje in Slovenia I am walk to the old castle on the mountain. It has a nice history and a good looking around from there

The man at the reception is really friendly. He gave our daugter a paper crown. Inside there are two open towers holding a museum, bar and that's basically it. Gor for an hours or max two.

Awsome place and great experience. People who work here are really nice. They showed us how to use sword, talked about past of this place and culture. Castle have great views of Celje city. On entrance you get 1€ coupon to use in caffe bar inside of castle. Great place to visit with family.

Excellent view of the city overall . Nice castle and is eventually the biggest castle of Slovenia. Cheap tickets, if tired can sit in the cafe just in the castle . Very nice workers

On our way from Maribor to Ljubljana we stopped by this beautiful castle and the view is extremely worth it. It is a short detour, but even on a rather cloudy day a total must do. Also not too crowded and student discounts are offered, which is always a plus.

Great castle to visit, you can learn a lot about the history of Celje and Slovenia such as the 3 star on the Slovenian flag are coming from Celje family. Also you get a very nice view on the city below the castle. There is a cafe inside the castle that is also quite good. And last but not least the staff was super friendly and nice.
