Create an itinerary including Slivnica
Slivnica is a peak in the Dinaric Alps in Slovenia, southeast of Cerknica on the edge of the plain defined by Lake Cerknica. Its southern and western slopes are covered in deciduous and pine forests, which also obstruct the view from the highest peak, Big Slivnica (Velika Slivnica).A karst cave below the summit of Slivnica, known as Witches' Cave (Coprniška jama) was described by Valvasor in his The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola (1689) as a hole where storms were made. Warm air rises from the cave in the cold winter months and condenses to form mist, a phenomenon that contributed to the creation of the local legend about the Slivnica witches, traditionally blamed for all misfortune by local farmers from hail storms to various ailments.

  • The hill is very popular for hiking - for local residents and tourist. The path is easy, well marked and surrounded by forest.

  • A lovely hike and not to strenuous. The path can be a bit treacherous in the winter where its snowy and slippery on exposed parts and muggy and slushy in the wooded parts. The cafe at the top makes some lovely hearty grub and warm fruit teas. I would also recommend a quick slug from the spirit cabinet.
  • Omg, what a view. Road is interesting, but loving the challenges. It is so worth it. U can see entire city from above. And, road was super fun, challenging what is my fave.;)
  • Sadly, but food was far from good. Would it kill you if you give a carrot or two in a barley soup? Or a a bit more beans into "Jota". Otherwise it is a nice spot to go on a sunny day, but bring your own sandwich with you. Sorry for a bad critique, hope this will push you to improve the quality of the food.
  • Beautiful view and nice walk for kids.
  • Love the horses, cows, and view on top :))
