  • My suggestion is to make a hike from village Reka. It takes about 45 minutes to reach it climbing through the woods. We had luck to join one organized tour so we could enter. So ask about entrance...

  • Place, a cave with archeological findings is not place where you can drive till the entrance. You need good shoes, a lamp and some patient walking. You can’t know what you will see without...

  • Extraordinary thing! I had now idea before that the oldest instrument in the world was found there. In the Tourist Information (TiC) in the city Cerkno you may ask for guide tour of the cave. Great.....  more

  • Great visit. If you come from far, beware that the guided visits are three times a week (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 10am starting at the nearby church) during July and August! You can also call ahead the LTO Laufar Cerkno association for guided tours. The archeological site and the wall projections on the site are locked off when there is no guide!
  • Careful! The cave is 2 km north of the village, you could park at reka an hike your way up to the cave. Visit the small diner on top, great host!
  • In the village of Reka, next to the bridge over the river Idrijca, there is a parking lot and a sign with a description of the archaeological find of a flute in Divje babah. At the intersection or at the crossroads there is no direction sign for the path along the mulatera, but there is a marked walking path that goes to the right and at the last house I was directed to a steep marked mountain path (a bit confusing). The mulatera further towards the top is nicely secured and paved (stairs). Much is described on the billboards. Access by car is possible, the road via Šebrelj to St. Ivan and then along the paved path to the destination. I recommend stopping at the buffet at St. Ivan, where you will be welcomed by a friendly caretaker and you can support yourself and also learn something about this place!!! I recommend visiting and viewing.
  • A piece of paradise here, behind the village a park on the summit with a church and a bar. Incredibly beautiful view and a challenging, steep stairway to the site where the Neanderthal flute was found. This can be admired in the museum in Ljubljana
  • This is a must see. Great location and a guide who had childhood experience and was full of stories. The presentation and movies in the cave are at a high level. Excellent.
