The station is built in Austro-Hungarian style, and is pretty enough, although really just a small train station. Its real claim to fame is that it is in Slovenia, yet if you walk across the small square outside you find yourself slap bang in Italy. The days of the border fence are long gone. In fact it's possible to have one foot in Italy and one in Slovenia!

Station building looks pretty and there was a bar or cafe inside. Only downside was that there was no one at the information office and the only train was empty and looked disused so I wasn't sure l was at the right place until the train conductor came 3 minutes before the train was due to depart.
