Dating back to the 16th century, Olimje Monastery is now a Franciscan monastery. Damaged by a 1970s earthquake, the castle was renovated thanks to national and parish funds, and was turned over to Franciscans in 1990. Both tourists and pilgrims visit, and the Franciscans also run an herbal apothecary on site. There is no entry fee, but donations are welcome. Nice castle, nice church with black altar. Enough parking space and very nice garden with a lot of herbs and spices.

Beautiful building with an interesting history that can be read on the website. There was a wedding being hosted on the day so we weren't able to visit inside but the cafe across the street is good and do a good selection of drinks. Their homemade lemonade is worth trying, very refreshing

Really beautiful monastery. We bought multiple pharmaceutic products that they make themselves (creme, thé and drops) 😄

Beautiful church, must see if you're in the neighbourhood. The farmacy, which is within the monastery, offers a range of herbal medicine to treat whatever may be causing you trouble
-
Wonderful, suggested!

Nice, well maintained monastery. It has a beautiful herbs garden, an old apothecary where the monks sold their plant based medicine, and a not-that-big church, but richly ornamented with ornaments fit for a cathedral.
