Rising on a hill along the riverbank and overlooking the town, Ptuj Castle houses a museum that exhibits art, furniture, costumes, tapestries, and everyday objects from the 16th to the 19th centuries. In the western forecourt, notice the tower--the only remaining part of the first fortification most likely built in the 9th century. Archbishop Konrad of Salzburg commissioned the construction of a new castle in the 12th century, but the structure gained its final appearance in the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Explore the collection of musical instruments used by noblemen and wealthy citizens on the ground floor, and head to the second floor to see traditional masquerade costumes on display. You could easily spend all day here. Late may was great as there were few people around. You get great views and access to no less than three museums. Including the music museam which has some interactive activities for kids. The weapons museam. And of course the castle itself with plenty of art and exhibitions. Don't miss this if you're here.

Had a lovely time looking around the castle. This is our 2nd visit. Very helpful friendly staff. Were very happy as we got to go down the cellar. Will definitely return on our next visit to Slovenia

Beautiful historic castle in the middle of Ptuj. The castle is equally beautiful photographed from any angle and the city is qually beautiful when photographed from the castle too. Ticket is not expensive, you can buy here magnet gift too. Inside the castle you can find a music exhibition too with musical instruments (autopiano, organs) and some of pieces allowed to use or just start a music with some buttons. You can find a different exhibition at each level. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You should visit this castle, it's nice.

I had a great time visiting the castle. The exhibitions are great if you want to learn more about the story of Ptuj. You can also buy some souvenirs. The staffs are frendly and last but not least, the view is amazing ! For a price of 8euros per adult, you have to stop there when visiting Ptuj !

Ptuj Castle stands on a hill alongside the Drava river overlooking the town and it is a prominent landmark. Perfect place to enjoy the summer sunset 🌅🌅🌅
