Forma viva Ravne Steel Masterpieces is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.
To urejeno arhitekturno podobo mesta bogatijo jeklene skulpture Forme vive, enkratne umetnine umetnikov iz petnajstih držav, ki so nastale v okviru mednarodnih kiparskih simpozijev v letih 1964 – 1989 in 2008. Monumentalne kiparske kompozicije so se vrasle v vizualno podobo mesta. Čeprav večinoma nagovarjajo z abstraktno likovno govorico, so postale njegov nepogrešljiv del in simbolni izraz več kot tristo let stare tradicije fužinarstva v teh krajih, kot svojevrstna likovna atrakcija in dejavna sestavina v življenju mesta, njegovih parkov in drugih zelenih površin.
Hkrati predstavljajo neprecenljivo zakladnico izvirnih likovnih idej, saj omogočajo zgovoren vpogled v stremljenja sodobnega svetovnega kiparskega ustvarjanja.
RAVNE – THE CITY OF FORMA VIVA
Ravne na Koroškem is administrative, economic and cultural centre of the Mežica valley, Alpine region in North Slovenia running parallel with state border of neighbouring Austria. Until the 50's of the 20th century city square was called Guštanj. Gutenstein was first mentioned in year 1248. The most attractive part of the city centre is Old street leading from old square to parish church of St. Egidij.
Despite rapid growth after World War II, Ravne obtained the appearance of well-regulated contemporary city. Mighty steps lead to Čečovje, architecturally well designed industrial settlement with blocks of flats and houses situated on south terrace above city centre. On the east terrace grew an urban settlement called Javornik.
This well-regulated architectural appearance of city is enriched by steel Forme vive sculptures, unique works of art of thirty artists from fifteen different countries, which were created within international sculptural symposiums in years 1964 – 1989. Monumental sculptural compositions became deeply rooted in visual image of city. Although they mainly persuade by means of abstract artistic language, they became its indispensable part and symbolic expression of more than three hundred years old iron work tradition in this part of Slovenia, as unique artistic attraction and active component of city life, its parks, and other green surfaces. In cooperation with skilled workers of Ravne steel plant artists created amazing works of art made of steel and iron which now enrich architectural image of city and its surrounding places.
In the 60's of last century city was vigorously built with new residential neighbourhoods, that is why sculptors mostly created their in steel realised works for urban ambients which were planned beforehead; at first among blocks of flats in newly arisen Čečovje neighbourhood, later on exposed spots of wider city surroundings. Original idea was even to erect these sculptures on cautiously selected locations. As unique artistic attractions and silhouette emphasis in sense of space coordinates they would determine starting-point for urban planning of city development.
Thirty original sculpture compositions created by the same number of artists - seven Slovenes, five Japanese, three Englishmen, two Germans, Croatians, Italians, Americans and one Serb, Pole, Macedonian, Dane, Irishman and Canadian – during Forme vive symposiums in Ravne are nowadays properly disposed in the environment and invite visitors to listen to their language. At the same time they represent invaluable treasury of original artistic ideas since they enable communicative insight into tendency of contemporary world sculpture creation.
By means of »Forme vive« expression we express the idea of free and independent plastic modelling, in our case out of original raw material – steel. Precious steel is symbolic material of industrial era which historically marked the city of Ravne na Koroškem and its development. Artists primary paid regard to traditional sculpturing material of our steel environment.
RRAVNE– FORMA VIVA STADT
