Planina Zajamniki, Srednja vas v Bohinju

Always great hike to this very typical high plateau dominated by many small shepherd's houses. Nice experience in winter as well as in summer or any other time of the year.

If you're considering getting there by car in late fall/winter/spring time, you can already forget it. The road will be covered in thick iced snow, i dont think even chains'll help. Zajamniki can be accesed by car from Goreljek if the ice melted though. The road leads thru planina Jelje, Konjska and Pečeh. There is no stop sign, but the road is extremely bumpy and its aprox 7 more km from Goreljek. Its much easier to reach by foot from Rundo polje. Its about 5 km all the way to the back of the village. Official parking is 6€ for a whole day for a car. Just cross the bridge and follow the red path to Uskovnica. The path's not difficult. At some point you'll have to leave the path to Uskovnica and make a turn left on a path to Zajamniki, beware there is no sign! The turn is on an open Green field with a good view of mountains. The path to Zajamniki is well visible and goes slightly uphill. I recommend checking the map beforehand so you dont miss it. After a bit of walking you'll notice its actualy marked by a red dot. This path leads to Zajamniki. Also, dont forget to cross the little wooden steps in a small settlement and follow badly visible path over a field. Its marked but many people miss it and get lost for a while.

The Zajamniki mountain is located at 1280 m above sea level, and the mountain is best known for the shepherd's houses that are spread over the mountain. The so-called shepherd's houses are idyllically surrounded by meadows and pastures, and they are surrounded by a mighty spruce forest. Of course, from there you will enjoy the magnificent panorama of Triglav and the Julian Alps. Namely, Zajamniki is also known as the balcony of Pokljuka, because of the wonderful views of the mighty two thousand mountains. If you are lucky, you will be alone on the mountain and you will be able to feel the calmness and majesty of this mountain.
