From the 13th century, Snežnik Castle remains one of the most romantic and charming historical landmarks in the area, surrounded by unspoiled nature. The four-story structure sits surrounded by a Renaissance wall. The castle did undergo massive renovations in the 19th century, with the majority of inside furnishings now dating to this later period. The castle park grounds feature walking paths, meadows, chestnut trees, and two small man-made lakes.     Among the castles in Slovenia, this is amongst the prettiest as furnishing goes (clever managing has kept it from ransacking), with a more engaging guide this could easily be a "must-see"
