Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary
Witness rescued primates frolic in their natural habitat at Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary. Nestled at the foot of the Magaliesberg mountain range, this rescue and rehabilitation center serves victims of the illegal pet trade, releasing them back into the 7 hectare (17.3 ac) wooded sanctuary. Take a guided tour on the elevated walkway to learn about resident capuchin, squirrel, and spider monkeys, and lemurs that now live freely in the sanctuary's trees. Bush babies are early risers, so they're likely to be fast asleep if you visit late in the day. Our Hartbeespoort itinerary planner makes visiting Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary and other Hartbeespoort attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Our third visit… The monkeys are beautiful and playful but something is changed. I’m not saying about the fees, which are absolutely normal to be increased with a 10-15%, but as we chose the option...

We loved the experience, a simply must. Although I must say it is quite expensive. The place is well taken care of with very friendly staff. Monkeys is very comfortable with people and have no problem to come up close. One even climbed on me. The only reason for giving only 4 stars is because everybody going in for feeding time pays the same price however not every person gets their own feeding bucked we were 2 and only got 1 and there was a family of 6 and they only got 4 even though all of us paid full price. There is drinks available to buy onnsite at affordable prices. Bathrooms also very clean. And safe parking with a very friendly car guard also there.

I genuinely enjoyed doing the monkey tour. I opted to be in the feeding group and I was so fun to have the monkeys be comfortable enough to climb on you. The tour was informative, very fun and the walkways, the nature and the views throughout WA breathtaking!

My heart melted!!! We did the feeding tour and the monkeys were sooo cute! I highly recommend to do this tour! They live in a huge area where they can move freely, and the people take good care of them.

Very nice place to see monkeys and elephants. There are a lot of monkeys (mainly Kapuziner and lemurs I think) and 4 elephants in the 2 sections. The monkey tour is about 1 hour long, the elephant tour about 1.5h and you have enough time to ask any questions and take pictures. Even if you don't ask any questions the guides will tell you a lot about the animals which is very nice. Careful with the monkeys, the will try to search your pockets and backpacks so have an eye on them when they're climbing into you (what will most likely happen unless you tell them strictly not to do it, but it is also funny). In the elephant tour there are 3 parts, feeding an elephant, walking with elephants and touching elephants / taking pictures with elephants. Also in larger groups everyone will have a chance to perform the activities which is very nice. All in all I can only recommend going there. If you go with kids plan some time (maybe for a picnic) between the tours as especially the elephant tour also involves some stops where kids (especially when they don't speak English) might feel bored. There is a playground right outside with a picnic table where families can spend some time between the tours
