Gukje Market, Busan

3.5
#3 of 45 in Shopping in Busan
Create an itinerary including Gukje Market
Gukje Market maintains traditional marketplace atmosphere, owing to its history as a place where refugees of the Korean War earned a living selling basic goods. Make your way through the alleyways, observing how locals shop and browsing the large array of items, both new and used, on offer. Perhaps the biggest draw for foreigners, though, remains the many food stalls and restaurants for sampling Korean fare. • This is another huge market we've visited on our 7 days Korea tour. It's set at the foot of the hill of the Yondusan park where's the Diamond tower, in vicinity of the BIFF square and Jagalchi...

  • If you go there for the foods, be there early in the morning. We went there around 3pm and the place was total chaos. Very crowded. Not a good place to bring young children due to the crush. Cannot...

  • If you're looking for a great place to do some shopping, Gukje Market is definitely worth checking out. However, it's not the best place to grab a bite to eat. The food stalls only accept cash, and the food itself wasn't great. Some of it was decent and affordable, but it was all cold. I wouldn't recommend getting food from the stalls at Gukje Market. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that are much better options.
  • It is quite an overwhelming place, as all (most) markets are so if you're looking for somehting more relaxed it's best to go to another place. This market is vibrant, alive and full of so many things to see, buy, taste, etc. the ladies who work at the stalls are so friendly and are inviting! The market has everything from pots and pans, bathroom essentials all the way to internation medication mostly from Japan as this market has a history related to that. Try some of the delicious streetfood on offer!
  • I like this market as it has authentic old Korean vibe. You can buy tasty Omuk (fish cake) that is one of the symbols of Pusan. Or you can try Korean street food. Recommend for visiting👍🏽
  • A great place for tourists to experience the local culture. We had lots of fun roaming the streets and exploring the markets!
  • You can buy souvenirs for your friends and family here. There are so many options starting from t-shirts, purses, keychains, etc. The price is also affordable
