A tourist attraction for sure. Just what a temple needs a coffee shop, souvenir shops and not one monk in site. It felt more like a regular tourist attraction then a temple. Beautiful place but the temple part or feeling of being in a temple was just not there.

One of the most stunning temples to be seen in Korea. Love the statue of Buddha and the temple surroundings. It was very peaceful, serene and beautiful. The sound of the chimes and buddha prayers by the monks just made me to want to stay longer. Definitely recommend a visit to this temple. It's a bliss during spring and autumn seasons.

Galwonsa Temple is a nice piece of history, the place oozes calmness and looking at the scenery you feel at peace. I am sure this place must be amazing during spring with all the cherry trees and colourful buildings with lanterns around. It's shame most of the restaurants around are permanently closed (Covid maybe?), but definitely still worth the trip and walking around. We had no problem with parking by the temple, but I can imagine the place is busier during the weekends.

Went there with the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Great temple and pretty instazone. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
