A symbol of Zen Buddhism in Korea, Jogyesa Temple in lively downtown Seoul attracts worshipers from all over the world, culminating during the annual May celebrations of Buddha’s birthday. Although the temple was established in the distant 14th century, the current structure dates back to 1938, when it was proclaimed the headquarters of Korean Buddhism. Admire the imposing building and its spacious worship hall, adorned with vibrantly painted decorations and lanterns, or visit the courtyard, which boasts a pair of trees more than half a millennium old. This place was very enchanting and majestic, as well as peaceful at the same time. Accidentally saw it when I was passing by, have to stopped and look closer. It was an experience. I saw people praying inside the temple. The lights are really nice. The courtyard is very beautiful, I was so amazed. The trees, the candles and many notes (prayers I assume) were all arranged in a nice way. The buddhas all look nice and golden.

Came to the Jogyesa temple after we arrived at the guest house nearby and after a shirt rest. The sun was setting already and it was a bit cold. The monk(s) was/were doing a prayer and so did I. It was relaxing. The temple is nice and I think it's nicer when it's dark with the lights.

Amazing temple. Peaceful atmosphere. I recommend you to all go inside (take off your shoes) and find your inner peace for a while. It was an unique experience that i will never forget. In the courtyard were millionfold notes from prayers i guess. I was so impressed.

Culture is extremely important to me, especially respecting and appreciating other cultures. Today I had the privilege of visiting this temple, it was an important experience. Seeing the Korean culture show their respect and homage in the temple made me appreciate it even more. It's a beautiful place to visit, a must see if you ask me and very close to the grand palace and a really exquisite outdoor market.

I went during the lotus festival, bat night, it was gorgeous. It felt very welcoming and it is open 24 hours according to a 'Temple Stay' pamphlet. (You can also do a temple stay-. I had considered it, maybe my next trip to Seoul)
