Seoul Museum of History, Seoul

Pretty good museum, showcasing the development of seoul over the years. Perhaps the biggest exhibit is a room sized scale model of Seoul itself. Also lots of cool animated/projected exhibits (seems to be a common theme in Korean museums & my kids loved it!) Was also free ... Not sure if that's normal tho.

This was my favourite museum in Seoul. The development of the city was presented beautifully, from the initial establishment to the present day, with varied exhibits - including archaeological, documentary, video, and even scale models of twentieth century mixed use developments. Very worthwhile indeed.

Although Seoul has 600+ years of history, this public museum doesn't exhibit many artifacts. I also found it too simple how they curated the contents. But it's free, not far from the city center and maybe worth a visit if you stay in Seoul for more than 5 days.

Wonderful museum that tells the story of the development of Seoul. Signage of permanent exhibitions are detailed and written in Korean and English. Some of the special exhibits are only in Korean and some have partial English translation. Every time I visit the museum, I learn something new.

Highlight was the big showroom with an animated mini-scaled seoul. Cinematic for sure! Entrance was free. The museun itself was okay. We felt like some important parts were missing (how the writing system changed, how korea was seperated...) but not a lot of the information was in english, so we probably didn't get it. Still worth a visit since it's free of charge! ;)
