Initially used as the Korean army headquarters, The War Memorial of Korea today serves to memorialize the nation's military history. Established in 1993, the building contains six indoor exhibition halls and one outdoor center, which displays more than 13,000 military items and war memorabilia. With the purpose to educate future generations by collecting, preserving, and showcasing historical records and relics, the museum has become one of the most prominent touristic landmarks of its kind in the world. Explore the halls divided into different themes, such as the Korean War, war history, and large equipment room, among others. Some special exhibitions require purchasing a ticket. This remembers the brave people that fought for the freedom of South Korea. Everything is beautifully displayed and the museum itself is amazing. It's enormous but shows all the wars that ever took place in Korea in an explanatory way. Everything is very clear and there is a wide variety of different artifacts to help you understand the stories.

There was so much to learn and I felt they laid out the direction of the museum to the historical time-line very well! I don't recommend bringing small children since there is mostly reading material, but if you do, they do incorporate interactive screens (more reading material) and several visual displays/models if that keeps them occupied. 😊 I left this memorial wanting to learn more. They did an awesome job sharing so many interesting details of Korean history.

Very neat museum with all the interesting war weapons, history, and how it shaped Korea. Good way to spend a weekend. Takes about 3 hours to see everything semi thoroughly.

Amazing museum. You can learn the history of wars in Korea from prehistoric ages to modern history. Really impressed with the level of detail and effort put into the installations and structures. Also it is FREE, can you believe it?

It’s a beautiful place to visit. The area is huge. The sunset was mesmerizing to see from this place. Free admission. Lots of information to gain. You should come with at least 3 hours in your hands to have a complete tour of the place. In autumn it looks even more beautiful. So many games inside. So many shows inside. Go and visit this place🤗
