National Archaeological Museum of Spain, Madrid

Very impressive museum. Full of artifacts that detail the history of Spain to the present — a lot ancient weapons to coin currency used back in the day. There are at least three floors of exhibits for you to view that are accessible via stairs or elevators. You need to place your large bags/backpacks in lockers before you enter exhibit hall. Worth the value and time to visit the MAN.

Free on Sundays which is a pleasant surprise compared to most museums around the world! Beautiful building with a mix of classic and very modern architecture in a great, central location. Also near lots of shopping in case you are into that sort of thing. I was a little underwhelmed with the exhibits however. I was expecting more of a focus on Spain / Iberia and Latin America. Not on par with similar museums in London, Chicago, New York, Paris, etc. So it would have been interesting for them to have really differentiated themselves in some fashion. I would highly recommend that Museum of the Americas instead. It's a little bit further away, however it is definitely worth visiting. All that said, it's still a cool little museum.

Perfect specially on the weekends because not much of the people. No doubt about all the pieces of Archaeological they corrected and 3D models. Useful English information, elegant layout and open. Recommend at least three hours decent covers for three floors.

Underrated museum on the Madrid sightseeing list! Unfortunately when I went the top floor was closed, which house much of the Greek and Egyptian artifacts which are some of the best here, but the others floors were well worth the 3€ entry! The museum is set up to tell the history of man as you walk through each floor, which is both entertaining and educational. There are so many exhibits we even had to skip a few just to save some time, you could be here all day if you wanted. Even the building itself has some amazing architecture.

It was super! Tickets were only 3EUR per person. Worth the visit. Very interesting collection from pre history to the more actual part of life. Also very clean and not crowded at all for a weekday. To see everything over 3 floors it does take some time. So save 2,5-3 hrs if you’re interested in history to have seen and read everything. -tip : would be nice to upfront put a notice that the temporary exhibition is closed at the entrance.
