Malaga Cathedral, Malaga

Create an itinerary including Malaga Cathedral
Discover Renaissance beauty in the heart of Andalucía at Malaga Cathedral. Constructed in the 16th century, the cathedral is referred to by locals as “La Manguita,” as it boasts only one high tower instead of the traditional two-tower design. Tour the cathedral’s many chapels, admiring grand artwork and details like the ornate Neoclassical altarpiece depicting the patron saints of Málaga and the carved mahogany, 17th-century choir stalls. Visit the museum on the second floor to see ceremonial treasures and important artifacts. Make Malaga Cathedral a part of your Malaga vacation plans using our Malaga travel route planner.

  • Beautiful architecture, impressive, located in the center of the city, excellent spot for taking photos. Especially nice in the afternoon hours when the sun illuminates its front façade.

  • Yet another stunning and very old church in Spain (and Europe). What can you say, it’s only €8 to get in, so not too expensive to see the inside of the beautiful building. The cherry on top for...

  • Does it make the top 10 list of cathedrals? Probably not. Is it worth paying the entrance fee? Probably if you combine it with the tower option which gives great views over the city. There's a free audio guide you can upload onto your phone with a QR code which also helps add some meaning. However from the outside it is an imposing structure and gives some great photo options both during the day and at night. There are a couple of restaurants and bars in the square facing the front which make a great spot to enjoy the view and a glass of wine in the evening.
  • I've never seen a cathedral quite like this one before. It's wonderful. The architecture is beautiful, there's so much art and adornments everywhere. On a Tuesday, we queued for about 10-15 minutes, nothing too bad. The entrance is paid, but there are many reduced ticket options. The cathedral entrance fee for students is 4€ and if you want to go see the tower as well, that's 7€ in total. You can pay with a credit card there. I highly recommend bringing your phone and earphones, as you are provided with a QR code for an audio guide that you can listen to on your phone. It's worth it going around with the audio guide which shares a lot of interesting information about the cathedral. Absolutely worth a visit when in Málaga.
  • Honestly, I think the cathedral is more impressive from the outside. Inside I didn’t find it anything special apart from the roof. The art is not great, but the organ is impressive. However, definitely add the roof tour into your visit (many steps) and it makes the trip worthwhile. €12 (concession ticket) for both.
  • 🇨🇦 review here. Happened by this Cathedral and there was no line so I went in not even knowing what it was. WOW what a place. They have an absolutely excellent audio guide for free (with wifi) on your phone. Great explanations. Lots of places to sit while listening. It wasn’t busy so there was lots of space when I was there on a Wednesday midday. I recommend it for the low entry fee.
  • A beautiful cathedral in the centre of the old town. You may be better pre-booking tickets to avoid the queues. There is no lift, but 200 steps to the rooftop. A must see visit regardless of your religion.
