Discover picturesque landscapes at Monasterio de Piedra, a tranquil and scenic park that surrounds a partially ruined ancient monastery. Its deep, reflective lakes, caves, lush forest, and waterfalls, including one over 50 m (164 ft) high, make it an oasis in an otherwise arid area of Spain. Listen to birds singing and try to spot the native deer, rabbits, and boars. Head to the monastery, founded in 1194, and learn how the first piece of chocolate made in Europe was created there. Some of the paths in the park are tricky and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. Our Nuevalos journey website makes visiting Monasterio de Piedra and other Nuevalos attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

We visited the park only. Long queues of traffic waiting to enter and park. Get here as early as possible. Very large crowds onsite. On entry, first experience is staff selling photos opportunity...

Gorgeous gardens and waterfalls. We spent roughly 2 hours walking around and exploring everything. Even though it was winter, it was absolutely gorgeous and serene. Well worth the visit !

This is the second time I've been here and it's spectacular! It's like a little oasis in the dry Spanish landscape. We really enjoyed both the waterfalls and the monastery. We went at the end of November and the leaves had turned a beautiful golden yellow which made it magical. While the monastery has plaques in English, it would be nice to have some material in English to read along the way around the waterfall trail. I tried to read the Spanish one and it seems there are some cool legends and stories about each part.

I totally recommend this place. Heavenly nature, even in winter. We spent about two hours just in the park and didn’t have time to go to the monastery but still it was worth our time and money. You need good shoes and be aware that if you do all the route you will end up behind a waterfall and you will get a bit wet. Again totally worth it!!!

First off this is not a hotel but rather a nature park. Yes there is a hotel on property but that is secondary to the beautiful park. Second, this place is awesome. It is a must-see for anyone in the central part of the country. You will be amazed at the waterfalls and caves, especially since just 15 K away it's very dry and barren. Plan ahead and bring food and drink as there many lovely areas perfect for picnics. It's not really a "hike" as the trails are all groomed and concrete with handrails. It will take you at least 90 minutes to see it all and likely more. There ups and downs that will challenge the older visitors or physically challenged. The cost today was 19E. There are bathrooms. Do not miss this place

I called in to ask about options to camp with a van. They don't offer it, and that's fine. But the attendant was so rude that I felt like leaving a review here. The moment I said we have a van she simply switched into a rude person and hung up on me. If that's their service, with van or not, I recommend avoiding the place

Wonderful visit to this beautiful park and monastery. We had lunch, trout of course, in the restaurant. Full menu del día available. Food was good quality and we'll presented. The park with it's waterfalls is spectacular to walk around but be prepared for lots of steps up and down, made from stone and sometimes uneven underfoot. Not suitable for wheelchairs or baby buggies. But if you are able to get around then it is a must see
