  • Main reason for my visit but despite opening hours showing open was closed on arrival. Perhaps not open during off peak season.

  • Castle is pretty, but, there are no descriptions of the displayed items. So you have no idea if it is 500 years old, or something from 1950s. And no idea about the significance, context, anything. Just sad.
  • In the organized excursion that we made to Valldemossa to see its most emblematic places, one of the visits was the Palace of King Sancho. After visiting the Charterhouse, we went into one of the rooms of the Palace to listen to a concert with pieces by the Polish composer Fréderic Chopin. Once it was finished, we visited this Palace built in 1309, by order of King James II as the residence of his son Sancho I. Later in 1399, King Martin I of Aragon ceded all the royal possessions of Valldemossa to the Carthusian friars who founded the Charterhouse. In 1835, due to the confiscation of Mendizábal, it passed into private hands. From the 19th century it would pass into the hands of different private owners. A whole series of renowned cultural figures have stayed in this place: Miguel de Unamuno, Rubén Darío, Azorín or Santiago Rusiñol, among others. The entrance includes the visit to the Palace as well as the piano recital.
  • Beautiful quite old and interesting palace with an affordable price.
  • The place is characteristic but in my opinion it is not worth the money of the ticket to which you have to add others if you want to see the rooms in which Chopin stays with his partner, luckily I had found a promotion on Groupon
  • The Palace of King Sancho, was built in 1309 by order of King Jaime II as the residence of his son Sancho so that he could find relief from his asthma. It is believed that it was built on an old fortress of a Moorish worth: Mussa, from which the name of Valldemossa would come. Sancho I, known as the Pacific, was the second son of Jaime II and inherited the kingdom after the resignation of his older brother Jaime, who joined the Franciscan order. In the year 1399, King Martin I of Aragon, called "el Humano", ceded all the royal possessions of Valldemossa to the Carthusian friars who founded the Charterhouse, transforming the parade ground into a cloister and cemetery, the five rooms that were in cells , the prison in a refectory, the pantry in a sacristy and the kitchen in a church. In 1835 it passed into private hands due to the confiscation of Mendizábal, who put on the market, through public auction, the lands and non-productive assets of the church or religious orders. At present, the Palace of King Sancho can be visited, like most of the rooms of the Cartuja, and every day, in this place, a concert is offered with pieces by the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin.
