Hurricane Irma came through five years ago. It is unbelievable that this resort has not been repaired. There are many buildings with no windows, no doors and nobody working on them! The casino still..... more

Had a great visit thanks to Grey, the houseman for the resort and the attentive bartenders. Nice to see Dawn Beach back after Irma which destroyed Buzzbee’s.

The beach is good but very depends on the weather. If stormy - no swimming and a lot of Sargassum. Sunset is super. Be careful with driving, it's not for beginners.

Maho Beach is most famous beach in St.Maarten, because of those landing planes. But if you want to relax, then Dawn Beach is your place. This beach offers great sunset views and there are some nice restaurants like Mr Busby's there too.

Sadly this beach was hit very hard by Hurricane Irma in 2017 and hasn’t quite recovered. It was a very cool place to watch the sunrise, but isn’t a very nice beach currently.

This beach, which faces the Atlantic, tends to be rougher for that very reason. It also sees accumulations of the infernal brown algae that are plaguing so many places. They shovel it and plow it away almost every morning, but it's a relentless job. It just keeps coming. Still, there is a nice beach bar down where the former Westin resort was located. (The restaurants inside the hotel are closed, and it appears now to be mainly a time share location.) If you can find a place with a nice view of the ocean, the Dawn Beach area can be a soothing back drop to drinks by the pool. But for swimming (and snorkeling), it really isn't a destination. I've heard folks say it was much better before Irma; some older reviews show Dawn Beach from that time and it looks *dramatically* different and better. Pay attention to the dates on these reviews.
