Create an itinerary including Fort Charlotte
Gain an insight into Kingstown's history with a visit to Fort Charlotte. Unusually, this standard Napoleonic-era fort features gun turrets pointing inward to the island itself--indeed, the British army wasn't concerned with a European naval invasion, but rather the Black Caribs. The oppressed descendents of the island's indigenous cultures and shipwrecked slave escapees had caused havoc on the island when allied with French invading forces late in the 18th century. Ironically, the fort itself was built using slave labor in 1806. Take a guided tour to illuminate your visit with stories of this troubled period. Bring a camera to capture the views of Kingstown's port and waterfront from the hilltop citadel. • I'm glad we took the advice to get a taxi up there. The road is steep and lacks sidewalks and the weather was hot when we visited. Once up, we were rewarded with panoramic views of the city and sea...

  • Not alot to do here as its still beautifully basic and rustic but well worth the trip up, incredible views and great history . The island is small and not geared for tourists so this is one of the main attractions , some great tour guides on this island grab one for the Fort
  • I commonly visit this historical landmark. It is calm quiet and serene and gives a 360 degree view of Kingstown and the leeward side of the island. The many stories that have heard about this fort and it’s contribution to the history of St. Vincent.
  • No tickets to buy, but it provides a beautiful view of St Vincent port and the other side overlooking the beautiful coast line. A steep walk up to the gate, they allow cars to go up for people with mobility issues, and there’s washrooms available if you need one.
  • This place has stunning sights and contains rich historical artifacts. This is a must see site for anyone visiting the island. One notable thing about the site apart from the breathtaking views is the very strong winds.
  • One of the good historical sites to visit in St. Vincent, the fort is free and can see the nearby islands and downtown Kingstown, but visit in the afternoon gives you better lighting and photo opportunities.
