Admire one of the best-preserved examples of Dutch colonial architecture at Presidential Palace, part of Paramaribo's World Heritage-listed historical center. This three-story white building, located across from the main square, was built in 1730 and remains the residence of the president of Suriname. Though you probably cannot gain entrance, you can walk around the exterior, taking in the symmetrical stone construction and wooden upper floor. Then visit the palm garden behind the building, home to capuchin monkeys as well as tropical birds. Proximity to the national assembly, court of justice, and ministry of finance makes this a convenient stop on a walking tour. Put Presidential Palace on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Paramaribo road trip tool.

Very nice building but unfortunately not well maintained.

The Presidential Palace - a LOT of challenges need to be addressed, but I wish the new government all the best in facing them and bring Suriname a lot of prosperity, safety and joy.

Really lovely building. It's close to a lot of other sites in Paramaribo so be sure to stop by if only for a picture.
-
A beautiful building that is well maintained like others in the area.
