The former home of Prince Eugen, Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde today represents one of the most popular art museums in Sweden. The state acquired the property after Prince Eugen's death. It includes the gallery and mansion, built by Ferdinand Boberg in 1905, as well as the old house and linseed mill, built in the 1780s. Tour the museum's exhibitions, with paintings by Prince Eugen and pieces from his personal collection. Walk through the estate's parkland for views of old oak trees, the harbor, and sculptures from French and Swedish artists. Discover how to plan a Stockholm trip in just a few steps with Klarna Trips's itinerary builder.

Apart from visiting the Vasa museum this little gem has been our highlight in our 4 days stay at Stockholm. Due to the very high temperatures at Midsommar we escaped the city center to stroll along the park. The entrance to the villa is about 12 Euro but totally worth it. The ticket office is in a smaller housing next to the villa. The tour starts on the left with a gallery of lovely paintings of Swedish art from around the 1900s in the romantic style. The tour continues in the villa right after a tunnel passage. The rooms are just beautiful showing you an extraordinary life style from around 1900 including Vienna modern and art nouveau. The different colors of light from the window blinds and room interior is amazing. Also have a look at the flowers in each room. They are all real and freshly taken from the nursery garden around the corner (can not be visited). Plan for about 1 to 2 hours for this place. I highly recommend taking the bus to the very right eastern end of the island to board one of the SL ferries (line 82, if you got a SL day ticket). It will bring you back downtown (or Vasa museum) with a few stops on the other side of the bay giving you the opportunity the get get some nice photos.

If you don't want to spend your whole day looking at art, come here. The curators definitely know what they're doing and have always an interesting angle. Besides if you're not that into art you can just enjoy the flowers and the atmosphere. Stunningly beautiful

One of Stockholm's nicest art museum is Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde on the royal island of Djurgården with a marvellous views over the town and the water. There is a big park, the museum and a nice restaurant and coffee shop. There is a great permanent collection as well as several temporary exhibitions. Make sure you take a stroll around the gardens as well as the museum. The easiest way to get there is tram number 7 from Kungsträdgården.

A large gallery with an impressive collection of paintings from some of the more notable and influencial scandanavian artists. The venue operates on multiple levels across different buildings connected by an underground corridor, the old house and a more modern space. The place is air conditioned which is a of welcome relief in the middle of July. A great place to spend some time, will definitely call in again.

Beautifully situated art museum, not overwhelmingly big. Cafeteria sells nice fresh food. The Nickolai Astrup exhibition is very good now.
