  • If you are walking from the train station in Avenches, it will take you about half an hour to reach these ruins. They date from the 1st century A.D. and what still stands there is very well preserved. It is also very close to the Temple so make sure to visit it because these are nice historic places that remind us that the Romans also settled in what is today known as Switzerland.
  • Good place for picnic
  • Impressive. You can imagine the real size the original building.
  • No Toilet and no tea stalls otherwise place was okay
  • It's true that there isn't much left to see from the stork sanctuary. but it is still worth a visit, because the site is very well laid out. View of the Roman wall in the distance and access across fields to the remains of the Roman theatre. You can easily imagine how great this city was in Roman times, when you see the reconstructions on the information panels or the model of the Roman museum! Also note that the two "benches for retirees" of the church are elements that come from the sanctuary of the storks!
