Schloss Laufen, Dachsen

Wonderful! A castle overlooking the Rheinfalls. It was well preserved and well maintained. A part of it was transformed into a restaurant, or a private venue, not so sure but there was an event last time. There's also a museum inside with a fee, as well access near the Rhein falls Switzerland Grand Tour photo frame. It was quite a walk going up on the hills to the Laufen Schloss, but worth the efforts.

This is a well situated restaurant when you come to visit the Rhine Falls, close to the border between Switzerland and Germany. This past Saturday there was restricted access to the premises because of a wedding. Food was mediocre at best and served far too quickly to have been prepared after I arrived. The vegetables were soggy and the French fries industrial. The list of open wines is restricted but of good quality and service is OK. Look for another restaurant if you want to eat well!

Very nice place in castle, nice food and desserts with ice cream. But terrible service, 15 minutes of waiting until the menu was brought, then 15 minutes of waiting until they came up and took the order, and in the same way with payment. Stuff doesn't want to see you at all.

Entrance fee is CHF5 per person. You can park at the nearest parking which is free. Buy the ticket at the counter and head towards the entrance. You will pass by the restaurant on your left. Walk pass it and you will arrive at the entry gate which you have to scan the ticket. If you are arriving from the other side of the river and go up to the castle with the lift, you can buy ticket at the machine (near to the entry gate). There are few viewpoints that you can stop and take pictures. The lowest viewpoint is the best as you are standing directly in front of the waterfall. After you are done, you can follow the signage towards the boat where you can take the red boat across the river (CHF5 per person). You can also walk along the riverside (15 minutes) cross a bridge and walk along the other riverside (15minutes) to arrive at the dock for boat ride.

I visited here like last year May with my bf. The weather was really good so we decided to sit outside and it was totally a wonderful choice. We ordered salmon dish and bratwurst. Both tasted amazing. Still willing to visit here again, just to eat that salmon dish again ^-^
