Create an itinerary including Archeological Site at St. Pierre's Cathedral
Discover the rich history behind one of Geneva's most prominent churches at Archeological Site at St. Pierre's Cathedral. Construction works carried out in the 1980s accidently uncovered a plethora of ancient artifacts at this site, dating as far back as the Roman Empire. These have been carefully examined and curated to provide visitors with a remarkable insight into the city's history and the past of this important building. Witness remnants of the basilica that once stood here, including the Roman crypt, monk's cells, and allobrogian tomb. For a more in-depth tour, pick up one of the audio headsets at the cathedral's entrance. • The audio tour and exhibits were wonder. Amazing that this extensive work was done beneath the existing structure. Need a full 45 minutes to see the entire exhibit. Well worth the time.

  • One of amazing place in Geneva. The whole museum is completely under the cathedral that is really amazing. In here we can see the old culture of Geneva there technology used in building. Well , tombs the storage rooms , etc etc . One of the main place is the room bishop it is really beautiful just looking at the room we can understand that the how much power has bishop over Geneva city on that time . The ground declaration is really amazing most of part were destroyed but they well preserved it in great way the room represent the political power of bishop also the has a heating system in the 4 th century . For entry it's 4 euro or Swiss franc for students and 8 euro or Swiss franc for the adults I don't know how much for the children (IAM sorry 🙂) it's really worth for visiting
  • A quite imponent Cathedral, access to visit the inside was not allowed at my time of visit, though the walk around the old Town was totally worthed the visit! In the area you can also see the antique arsenal, as well as the reformation wall and the park of the Geneve university
  • We came across this by accident and turned out to be an excellent site to visit. Great audio tour and really interesting history of the site of the Cathedral and all its iterations from the past and the local area with a huge underground laberynth of archeological excavations left visible and very cleverly preserved under the Cathedral.
  • WORTH EVERY PENNY of $8 signs in english as well. amazing.
  • This is a very nice museum that will take you back in time before the reformation to the very first settlements in the city. Unfortunately it is easy to miss. The entrance is at the right side of St. Pierre's cathedral. The ticket is 8 francs. I spend there 1 1/2 hours. This museums will make you experience archeological work at first hand. Recommended!
