Create an itinerary including Jungfraujoch
Discover spectacular views of an icy Alpine wilderness at the very top of Europe by visiting Jungfraujoch, the continent's highest train station. Nearly two million people travel to this winter wonderland each year, lured by its panoramic views of mountains and glaciers, skiing, and snowboarding. Opened in 1912, the Jungfrau railway line passes through a tunnel that took several thousand workers over a decade to drill. The station sits 3,454 m (11,330 ft) above sea level, with the Sphinx viewing house providing sweeping vistas of the largest glacier in the Alps, a World Heritage Site. The adjoining commemoration hall displays memorials to miners who died building the railway and features a giant and incredibly detailed snow globe. Saunter through the Ice Palace, a year-round frozen hallway featuring ice sculptures. Dine in one of several panoramic restaurants, pick up a box of Swiss chocolates, and test your golfing skills in a hole-in-one challenge above the glacier. No matter the time of year you're visiting, don't forget your camera, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Make Jungfraujoch part of your personalized Murren itinerary using our Murren trip planner.

  • Bought the Top of Europe pass for 3 days, which includes visit to Jungfraujoch. It was barely sufficient to enjoy all the hikes and activities at the various trails. Activities like First Flyer and First Glider, and sledding added to the fun.
  • A highlight for any traveler coming to Switzerland! Europe’s highest railway is certainly an engineering masterpiece of design. First take a cable car up to the train station where you switch into a cog wheel train which then runs through a tunnel in the heart of the mounting ascending to this marvelous viewpoint and diner! It was foggy when we visited but still incredible. The ice cave was super fun to explore and slide around in.
  • (Photos includes the way up and down the mountain) Joined a tour to visit the mountain to save on logistical planning, and it was very well organised by “Best of Switzerland” tour 👍🏻 our guide Rebecca was very knowledge and friendly, not to mention super enthusiastic throughout our entire visit - constantly engaging everyone during each stopover or transit. ⏰ The rides to and fro the peak were very well organised, with little to no downtime between each transition, leaving sufficient time for toilet breaks too - departing from Lucerne and return took us from 9am to 7pm+ 🏔 the view at the top of the mountain was unfortunately hindered by fog, would recommend to check the live cam at the top of the mountain to manage expectations prior to embarking on the trip 🏞 remaining facilities at the peak was good though, with multiple visit points, clear signage to guide the way and decent selection of food and beverages (albeit at a steep price, pun intended) ⛑ safety though, could be looked into - with very slippery surfaces once you step into the open area. Would recommend visitors to wear shoes with grip before embarking on the snowy surfaces Though we didn’t get to enjoy the full view of what’s it like at the peak, it was still an experience being at the top of Europe, with unparalleled views throughout the way too 👍🏻
  • One of the prettiest sights for the eyes! Some of the scenery can bring tears to the eyes! Absolutely beautiful. Lovely mountain scenes that change through the seasons. Winter sees the resort change into a snowy sensation. Spring/summer sees the growth of some beautiful flowers and foliage. Autumn sees the introduction of some lovely colours that are unique to this season! See the attached photos for some of the winter shots of this and the surrounding areas!
  • By far it was an unbelievable experience going up to the mountain of Jungfraujoch. You will have to take a train which is highest train station in Europe officially to go up however be cautious the air will get thinner. Without even realizing I felt light headed and a bit out of breath due to the high altitude. Just relax and breath to get has much oxygen into your lungs. Once you are up the white Swiss Alps mountain you will just marble at the beauty that is mother nature. I went in mid July and yet I wasn't as cold as I thought. Keep in mind I'm from south Florida so anything under 70 degrees would be freezing for me. The Glacier area walk through was extremely cold and slippery so hold on or else you can fall as some of the tourist we saw go down. You can spend 3 to 4 hours just going through all of the areas of the Jungfraujoch Sphinx Observatory has to offer. When you are leaving don't forget to stamp your passport booklet you can get for free at the gift shop which says you have visited Jungfraujoch top of Europe a very cute souvenir.
