Fondation Pierre Gianadda
Explore the sculpture garden and the underground automobile exhibition at Fondation Pierre Gianadda. Opened in 1978 by Leonard Gianadda to honor his younger brother Pierre, who was killed in a plane crash in 1976, the museum has permanent exhibits on Chagall, plus Gallo Roman pottery and art. In addition, it regularly features temporary exhibits from museums and private collections around the world. Plenty of parking is available near the facilities, and the foundation boasts a tea garden serving refreshments. The foundation is fantastic with an extensive collection. We visited during the Swiss masters expo. The sculpture garden was truly wonderful with works by Henry Moore, Rodin and many others.

Very nice museum, small but cute. There is an exhibition that changes time to time, and two areas dedicated to the main characters of the museum. There is also one area with the cars of the beginning of 20th century. There are 2 cafeterias, one indoor, very cute (like a step back in time), and one outside in the garden, where it is really pleasant to sit and enjoy the park and the weather. The park is also interesting, with pieces of art of various artists placed here and there. Suggested.

The museum is not big, but has such an eclectic variety of collections that's its a very entertaining way to pass an hour - no matter what you're interested in. There's a potted collection of roman artifacts, early cars, contemporary sculpture and decorative arts. The Cafe in the sculpture garden is a great place for a leisurely aperitif or on a sunny day. The history of Roman Martigny is well explained in French and German, but most other signage is in French only.

Unusual and fabulous art, history and automobile museum under one roof, plus a world class sculpture garden and Roman ruins! The museum features excellent temporary art exhibitions (Caillebotte was a revelation!), gorgeous vintage Mercedes, Bugatti and Swiss autos, and interesting Roman coins, statues and temple remnants. The outdoor sculptures by Brancusi, Rodin, Niki de Saint Phalle, Jean Dubuffet, etc. are beautifully placed in the large, peaceful garden. And the Roman ruins are a wonderful bonus. Highly recommended!
