  • Beautiful idilic town, not much to do but lots of nice buildings to look at.
  • The age and beauty of the town hall of the city and Canton of Schwyz well deserves a 5 star. The facade of the building is painted, depicting paintings of history making people and scenes of importance in the history of Switzerland. The Canton Schwyz, one of the 3 original cantons is central to the founding of Switzerland as a confederation. It is of great political and historical importance. The City of Schwyz is worth a visit due to its historical pass.

  • Schwyz Town Hall, inaugurated in 1645, has a facade decorated with frescoes added in 1891 to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the Rütli oath. It was the year 1291 when the cantons of Uri, Schwyz and Unterwaldo, in the Rütli meadow of about 5 hectares, overlooking Lake Lucerne, in the territory of the municipality of Seelisberg, allied themselves, swearing eternal loyalty against the Habsburgs. The frescoes in the town hall trace the victories of the Confederates over the Habsburgs and the formation of the Swiss Confederation. Switzerland owes its name and coat of arms to the town of Schwyz. For those wishing to learn more, visit the Museum of the Federal Pacts (Bundesbriefmuseum) where the most significant documents that laid the foundations for the Swiss Confederation are kept. And in the Forum of Swiss history it is possible to retrace the life of the Confederates between 1300 and 1600 with multimedia tools.
  • 🇵🇹 Só para ver a fachada da câmara municipal vale a pena fazer a viagem a Schwyz. É pura e simplymente magnífico ver uma tal representation de parte da História da Suíça. 🇬🇧 Just to see the facade of the town hall it is worth making the trip to Schwyz. It is simply magnificent to see such a representation of part of Swiss history. 🇬🇧 Just to see the facade of the town hall, it is worth making the trip to Schwyz.
