Appenzeller Volkskunde-Museum Stein AR, Stein

There are kid friendly activities in each level. The basement has a play area with farm houses, trees, animals, and more. The first floor has a station to create cows or roses. I mean etching with a nail and hammer; you have to purchase the gold plated cow or rose. The 2nd floor have multiple puzzles and a small little play room. Learning more about the history of the area and the importance of cheese to the region is very memorable. They also have wares for sale and multiple videos in case you can't follow the German postings. Highly recommend if you are staying in the area. Short drive to Stein from Appenzell.

Very good museum to learn about Cheese and the history of Appenzeller. Also has excellent details about textile, farming. When we visited they had a temporary exhibition on Teddy Bear it was very cute 😊 worth a visit if you are in Zurich. ( Day trip to this museum alongwith Cheese factory and the town)

People working in this place are nice, warm and know what they are talking about. You will be walking through history with kindness by your side. Go for the cheese, stay for the museum :) Highly recommended!

Very nice to see how mountain Swiss people leaves. And also have textile museum to see how old fabrics were made

A nice small museum which shows a nice selection of cultural artefacts of the region. The price is reasonable and you can see hand weaving and hand machine embroidery live. The staff answers with patience all the curious questions.
