Centered around Qixing Mountain, Taiwan’s highest dormant volcano, Yangmingshan National Park, features 13 hot springs and several scenic trails easily accessible from central Taipei by frequent buses. Smoking fumaroles, Taiwan blue magpies, and rhododendrons growing from andesite rocks stand out as the national park's trademark sights. Enjoy a stroll around Dream Lake and visit Grass Mountain Chateau, Chan Kai-shek’s summer residence. You can see a staggering 1,360 species of plants as you wander around the park's rolling grass hills, which were created after the government burnt forests to prevent thieves from stealing rich sulfur deposits. Covering 114.5 sq km (44.2 sq mi), the area serves as a popular weekend and holiday outing spot. With our world travel planner, Taipei attractions like Yangmingshan National Park can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Really lovely place to spend a few hours walking through the rainforest taking in the scenery and listening to the birds. Very easily accessible from Taipei.

  • Amazing view! Went in the morning and ended in the evening. Need to plan your route well. Went during December, and it can get pretty cold. Make sure to be appropriately dressed. Also, it gets pretty steep depending on the route you take. If you are taking public transport, do take note of the frequency of the bus. Usually, it takes around 30-45 minutes. There is very limited capacity on the bus. Those waiting at the later bus stop will not be able to get on the bus if the bus is filled. Will have to keep waiting until there is space for you to board the bus. Be prepared to spend a lot of waiting time will be spent on waiting for public transport.
  • the scene is just so beautiful that I've been fall in love with it😍😍 really attracted by all the things in this beautiful place, and I spent a happy and relaxing time with my friends, tired but worthy hope I can go there every week ,if there is any place I will suggest to my friends to watch the sunrise, definitely Yang Ming Shang will be the first place !! always a place I will feel so in love, maybe it is the place I feel with this beautiful feeling 🥰
  • 1 star because of traffic. I know many people only post pic like the beautiful mountain. But almost non share about how bad traffic was. I wanted to share this, not to lower the star, but for other to be prepared if you drive your own car! On Saturday 12/11/2022 we drove our car and I’ve spent 2 hrs on car struck on the mountain finding the parking lots. It was a mess. And if you park near the route. You will be fine from 900 - 1800 ntd bill! Other options are - take bus, but I can see, fully packed of pp just like a fish can. So be prepared if you want to take bus. - for me if we come next time, I would choose “Uber” for the way up, and for the way down, may take bus or Uber instead! “Never bring your own car as it was crazy 🥹🥹” The nature is quite nice, easy to walk and can see many cattle :)
  • This place is full of good vibes. If you want to see natural environment just visit this place. It has sulfur containing hot springs but not allowed to bath. Gives a good view and sulfur smell. Keep a raincoat and jacket because it’s quite windy and rainy.
  • Park with beautiful landscape, flora, and fauna, sulfur springs, trekking tracts, grassland. You can get geographical information about the formation of mountains and sulfur springs from the tourist information centers. Try to carry a jacket, good pair of shoes, a raincoat, water bottle before going there. Weather is unpredictable. Well connected to public transportation. One of the best natural parks in Taiwan 🇹🇼
