Stretching some 1,700 m (5,577 ft) into the ocean, YehLiu Geopark serves as a natural exhibition area for some of the strangest tent rock formations in the world. Dotted with hoodoo stones, the promontory offers fantastic views of the distinctive geological formations created in Miocene, which pushed the Dalian Mountains out of the sea. Marvel at the rocky Queen’s Head, the rock resembling a profile of Elizabeth II Queen of England, then check out Sea Candles, Fairy’s Shoe, or Ginger Rock. You can have fun concocting your own name for some of the shapes while walking through a forest of tall mushroom-shaped rocks. This bizarre Martian-like landscape can be reached by bus 90 minutes from West Taipei station. • I reached Yehliu at noon time on a rainy day with dark clouds and fierce winds. Most would think this is a bad day for visiting. It is not. With furious weather comes unusual scenes of huge waves...

  • Interesting geological formations along with appropriately descriptive information boards. Recommended visit if you are in Taiwan for sightseeing.

  • This is my go-to happy place whenever I visit Taiwan. The heat did not stop me. Though it may just sound like rocks, there's so much to see here, even my third time back. The waters are so blue and the rock formations are really beautiful. This is truly nature at its finest. In the summer, I suggest coming as early as possible so it's not as hot, not to mention there's way less people. We arrived around 10am on a weekend and stayed for two hours. Bring an umbrella to shield from the sun as there's not much shade. The breeze from the waters was refreshing and made the scorching sun more bearable. Tickets are 120NT per person.
  • A beautiful family weekend spot. Good to walk around, relax and enjoy the wholesome beauty of nature. The special rock structure and the sea view are something worth visiting on a sunny day. Many sea food restaurant/stores with delicacies. Easier if you got your own transport. Just a 40 minutes drive from Taipei.
  • When you first get there by bus 1815, you’ll start walking, you can see temples along the way. There are tiny market stalls outside of the park and they sell lots of snacks and souvenirs. The tickets are reasonably priced at 120NT per person. Unfortunately the student price is for Taiwan students only. There are a few attractions inside. The queens head were saved for last. We hiked all the way to the end of the peninsula and reached the top observation high. Great views! Heading back down, there were also spur steps that could lead to the lighthouse and also down closer to the water. Overall the walk Took around one and a half hours to two hours.
  • One of the most beautiful places in Taiwan. It was a really cool place to visit. The whole visit took approx 2-2.5h to walk through. A really interesting and beautiful place, worth coming. The entrance was only $120, for students $40
  • What a cool place Yehliu 野柳 is! The rock formations were truly impressive and so worth seeing ⛰️ The parts I enjoyed the most (by far) was firstly walking around the area by the rock called the Cute Princess 俏皮公主 and the Sea Candles 燭台石. One felt like an ant walking around in a stone forest. This was also a quieter area to enjoy the rock formations up closely, compared to the one around The Queen's Head 女王頭. The second part was the walk to the northernmost very tip of the geopark. It was a paved path going through the forest and over the hill, where the temperature was cooler, and there were less people. Gaps between the trees offered alluring glimpses of the sea and the rock formations from afar. A pavilion crowned the northernmost tip of the park, where the only sound present was that of the sea. A note on the closing times, was that we arrived at 4pm and the park was closing at 5pm. However, that just meant they didn't let more visitors in after that time, but we were free to explore for as long as we wanted after 5pm, so there is no need to rush.
